Character
Name: Fighter McWarrior
Age: ..20..?
Gender: Male
Canon: 8 bit Theater
Canon Point: Right before the Castle of Ordeals
History: wiki
Personality:
Fighter is very much a stab now, think never kind of guy. As his stats-loving friend Red Mage would say, intelligence was his dump stat. He has the attention span of a gnat (if that) unless it related to blades (especially him using his swords) and contributes very little help to problem solving, usually making some completely unrelated or infinitesimally dumb remark. He might just be the dumbest of the dumb to ever dumb. For example, when Thief joins their party, Fighter signs a contract which just about gives Thief control over the entire party while giving Fighter and Black Mage no benefits in return, and somehow believed it was a great deal. He also continuously has faith in Red Mage’s plans even though they rarely (if ever) succeed.
To make matters worse, he’s also incredibly naive and gullible, believing just about everything at face-value. When we first meet him, he’s on a quest to find imaginary armor, information for which he paid a hefty sum (all of his and Black Mage’s money), believing the old man without batting an eye. He also truly believes that he and his friends are really heroes and that they’re all good people despite most others believing them to be “homicidal maniacs”. Meanwhile, Thief is just there to make some money by robbing everyone blind (including him), and Black Mage is just about the embodiment of evil and ever goes as far as to attempt to murder his “best buddy” multiple times throughout the series (even going so far as to succeed at one point), yet Fighter either doesn’t notice or brushes it off as a sign of friendship because Black Mage is clearly his bestest buddy.
Speaking of buddies, he’s fiercely protective of them. His friends are his top priority in his life, even above being the hero, and he will do whatever they ask without question, and will defend them no matter what the cost (so long as he realizes he’s supposed to). He so protective of his best friend Black Mage that he will go to any length to protect him, even if it means harming his other friends. There’s a time where he does actually threaten to kill Thief and Red Mage if they hurt Black Mage. The only time he ever turns on Black Mage is when Black Mage injures White Mage, where he then jumps to defend her against him, only turning his back when Black Mage tells him to go help White Mage, which was really a ploy for Black Mage to stab him, again showing how quick he is to trust in people.
Despite his many shortcomings, though, Fighter does always try his best and even comes up with some creative solutions throughout his many misadventures, like his master weapon of swordchucks, or the time that he blocked the ground to break he and his friends fall, somehow saving them all from becoming art on the sidewalk. He remains pretty positive about most things and acts as the comedic relief without actually meaning to be. He believes that they’re the Heroes so everything will work out just fine for them. His main motivation in his life is to be the Hero, as evidence by why he even wanted to be a Warrior of Light in the first place and wears it as a badge of honor, always trying to do the right thing. The few times he uses logic it’s usually to point out why they should do something good.
To some, Fighter is the lovable idiot. To others, he’s just an idiot. The one constant is that he is an idiot. While Red Mage does question how dumb he actually is (very), the other members of his party pretty much see him as a means to accomplish their goals, and he’s too naive to notice, a fact which is sadly true. Black Mage finds him excruciatingly annoying, but most of the other people he encounters find his innocent charm likeable and he is the only Warrior of Light that isn’t hated by everyone else they meet, enemies included.
Speaking of which, he’s not the best when it comes to confrontation. Verbally he’ll get wrecked just about every time unless he can just out-confuse his opponent, but even if he loses it won’t keep him down for long. Neither would fleeing from a battle, a skill of which he is quite adept at, though he is not one to leave his allies behind. When he does hold his ground he is creative in combat, coming up with new techniques on the fly (which he has to do since he didn’t pay attention during lessons). He’ll also protect his party, going so far as to take blows meant for them. Overall he’ll find his own special way of getting through… so long as there are no spiders involved.
